The Reflector Aura Type

No Defined Centres are the Reflector Aura Type's Trademark

Last, but certainly not least - we are covering the Reflector aura type today. These are the evaluators of the Human Design aura types.

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, you can check out my post Human Design 101 to get caught up.

And you can find out what your aura type is here.

Reflectors are the rarest of all of the aura types and are here to serve as living barometers of their environments.

Being a Reflector means that you have no definition in any of your centres (all of your centres are white). Having no defined centres means that you are very sensitive, tuning in and sampling the energy of those in your company. Reflectors are the truest of empaths, able to experience many forms of energy.

But what does this really mean for you?

It means that how you feel on a day-to-day basis can vastly vary depending on who you’re surrounded by and where you're situated. If you find yourself in a toxic environment, you may very well become toxic yourself or feel that toxicity on an energetic level. And vice versa, when you find yourself in a healthy and happy environment, you, yourself, will feel radiant and energized.

In an ideal world, Reflectors would have the ultimate say in their communities, since they can effectively gauge the health of their surroundings. When they know and understand their intake of energy, they can then indicate where things need to change, and where things are working optimally.

You hold a futuristic leadership quality. Leadership through receptivity and yin energy - but it's a yang world out there. When you can come to fully understand your power you can begin to embody the wisdom that is you and show the rest of humanity that a softer approach can be just as effective.

Since Reflectors are so open and energetically vulnerable, some things should be taken into consideration when it comes to the people you keep in your aura on a regular basis:

  1. As a Reflector, you tap into the magnetic field and inner compass of the people around you, which means that you get caught up in the direction of others. Take into consideration the people you keep in your close circle. Determine what your standards are and make sure you hold others to those standards! Misery loves company, so don’t allow yourself to be the company that it keeps. Empowered people, empower people. It’s as simple as that.

  2. With that being said, it’s very healthy for you to have a solid crew and support system. Your friends and family will give you a sense of consistency and groundedness. Tapping into their energetic bodies can provide you with a sense of cohesion and regularity - just don’t mistake their energy for your own! Your openness is such a beautiful gift, providing you with the ability of energetic fluidity and understanding. Trying to define or label who you are only instills rigidity where there should be none.

  3. What you feel is what other people are feeling. It’s very easy to turn that inward and mistake others' energy as your own, which can lead to a lot of turmoil in your life when you don’t understand your mechanics. If you are feeling overwhelmed, sick, drained, upset, angry etc., consider that you may be absorbing negative energy from somebody else. If it becomes too much to bear, consider stepping away from the people you are surrounded by and cleanse your energy - you may notice that when you don’t mentally identify with how you feel, more often than not, the feeling will release itself rather quickly.

While you do take in and sample the energies of your habitat, your biggest and most important energetic relationship is one with the planets. The lack of definition in your centres means that the planets and their positions have the biggest influence over you, especially the moon.

Manifestors, Generators and Projectors are all ruled by the sun. You are the only aura type that is ruled by the moon. This means that you can find consistency in how you feel by tracking the movement of the moon, every 28 days a new cycle begins. As you track it, you may, for example, find that on day 1 of your cycle you feel energized, while mid-cycle is where you feel the most drained. Your intuitive abilities may be strongest on day 8, and on day 20 is where you feel the most emotional and so forth. You will notice a pattern emerge over the course of the month that you can begin to count on.

This is where your strategy comes into play. Your ‘strategy’ is to wait for one full cycle of the moon before making any major decisions.

As the moon orbits, it spends time in each of the 64 gates, allowing you to experience the many different energies of each of the gates. Towards the end of a 28-day cycle, you will find yourself with a well-rounded perspective on the topic at hand. After looking through the many lenses you have access to over this period, you can then make an energetically informed decision.

Additionally, it can help to bounce ideas off of other people to gain an understanding from different human perspectives - not for their sake, but for yours. Listen to your own tonality and listen to theirs. Keep in mind that it's not to get lost in their opinions, but about using them as a sounding board to get a sense of the energy that it provides you.

I know it sounds idealistic, especially considering the fast-paced world we live in now. But Reflectors are not designed to be fast-paced people, if a major life decision can’t wait for you, think of it as simply not being designed for you. The more you experiment with it, the more you will come to trust in it.

As a Reflector, you are considered a ‘non-energy’ type. This means that you have no activated ‘motors’ (the solar plexus, root, sacral and heart centres are all considered motors). Simply put, you do not have reliable access to sustainable energy.

This does not, by any means, mean that you can’t feel energized or productive. You can be incredibly productive, especially in the presence of a generator or when the transits activate your sacral centre. However, activities with high energy outputs are not sustainable long-term. You do best in environments where you can take breaks, naps and pace yourself as necessary. Trying to keep up with your highly energized counterparts can quickly lead to burnout.

Remember to cleanse your energy! Walks in nature, salt baths, ethical smudging, meditation and breathwork are great ways to clear your aura. Spend time in your own energetic field to really feel into the energetic influences of the planets. Your power lies in your ability to bask in the wide breadth of energies there are available to us as humans.

Most importantly, have fun with it, experiment with it. If something doesn't jive or resonate with you, let it go. You can always come back to it another time, or drop it all together. This is your life, and these are simply techniques to help you tune into your own energy.
